Recette ("we," "our," or "us") collects information in three main ways: information you provide directly, information collected automatically when you use the service, and limited information received from trusted third parties.
Information you provide
- Account information: email address, username, display name, and credentials needed to create and secure your account.
- Profile information: bio, profile photo, banner image, dietary preferences, and other details you choose to add.
- Recipe content: recipe titles, descriptions, ingredients, cooking instructions, photos, videos, audio, and other uploads you choose to provide.
- Social and household activity: comments, likes, follows, invitations, and other interactions you choose to make in the app.
- Preferences: privacy settings, notification preferences, display settings, and saved app choices.
- Billing information: subscription status and transaction records from Apple, Google, and RevenueCat. We do not store full payment card numbers.
Information collected automatically
- Device and app information: device type, operating system, app version, and similar technical details needed to run the service.
- Usage data: features used, screens visited, recipe interactions, and actions taken in the app.
- Log and security data: IP address, request metadata, access times, and error logs used to protect and troubleshoot the service.
- Permissions-based access: camera, microphone, speech recognition, and photo library access only when you choose features that require them.
Information from third parties
- Identity providers when you choose to sign in with Apple or Google.
- Social media platforms when you paste or import links or content from third-party services.
- Subscription and payment partners that confirm purchase, renewal, and entitlement status.
2. How We Use Information
We collect and keep only the information that is reasonably necessary to operate Recette, provide the features you choose to use, protect the service, and support your account.
- Provide and maintain Recette.
- Create, secure, and manage your account.
- Store, organize, and display your recipes, profile, and other content.
- Enable social, household, and sharing features you choose to use.
- Process AI-powered transcription, recipe structuring, image, and generation features at your request.
- Process subscriptions, billing, and purchase restoration.
- Remember your settings and personalize core product features.
- Send service messages and notifications you choose to receive.
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, bugs, and security issues.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
- Provide customer support and respond to inquiries.
3. AI and Machine Learning
Recette uses AI features to transcribe audio from cooking videos, generate structured recipes from transcriptions, extract recipe information from social media videos, and generate recipe suggestions from prompts.
When you use AI features, we send only the content reasonably necessary to complete the request you initiated, such as video, audio, images, text prompts, or related recipe context, to trusted third-party AI providers. We use that information to provide the feature you requested and support the service. We do not sell that content.
Third-party AI providers remain subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
5. Data Storage and Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication, access controls, monitoring, and secure cloud infrastructure.
That said, no method of transmission over the internet or method of storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, export, correct, delete, or limit certain uses of your personal information.
General controls
- Request a copy of your personal data.
- Update or correct profile information.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Remove specific recipes or content.
- Manage profile visibility, notifications, and device permissions.
California rights
- Know what personal information is collected, used, disclosed, or retained.
- Request access to, deletion of, or correction of personal information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, although based on our current practices we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Receive equal treatment for exercising your rights.

7. Data Retention
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy and to comply with legal obligations.
- Account information: retained while your account is active and for a limited time afterward as needed for security and legal compliance.
- Recipe and profile content: retained until you delete it, change its visibility, or close your account.
- Subscription and transaction records: retained as needed for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, and platform requirements.
- Technical logs: retained only as long as reasonably necessary for security, troubleshooting, and service reliability.
- After deletion: some information may remain in backups or legal records for a limited period, generally up to 90 days unless a longer period is required by law.
8. Other Important Disclosures
Children's privacy
Recette is not intended for children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will investigate and delete it where appropriate.
International transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. Where applicable, we use safeguards designed to protect the information transferred.
Third-party links and services
Recette may link to third-party websites or services, such as social media platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties and encourage you to review their policies.
9. Cookies, Local Storage, and Similar Technologies
We use cookies on our website and similar local storage or device technologies in the app to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, support core functionality, and measure service performance for troubleshooting.
Some browsers offer "Do Not Track" signals. Because there is no universal standard for responding to those signals, our website does not currently use Do Not Track as a formal privacy-control mechanism. Regardless, based on our current practices we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may notify you by posting the updated policy in the app or on the website, updating the "Last updated" date, and, when appropriate, sending an in-app message or email.

Nevada residents
Nevada residents may opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information as defined under Nevada law.
